Andre Iguodala, former Finals MVP has been a front runner within the NBA trade. As of recent, the Miami Heat, under the leadership of coach Erik Spoelstra, have caught Iguodala’s attention. Coming off a recent trade to Memphis back in June, Iguodala had made it very clear that he had no intention of playing for the Grizzlies long term. While management are still actively working out the nitty gritty details, Miami has come out and said that other trade prospect Justice Winslow will be involved within this process. Among trade discussions, as of the Wednesday night game between the Heat and Clippers, there were noticeable players not suited up for game play. Dion Waiters and James Johnson have been in trade talks all year. These discussions come after Waiters stirring up trouble this year after being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Others among trade discussions are Jae Crowder of the Grizzlies and Danilo Gallinari. If an agreement is reached, this could become a three-team trade involving Miami, Memphis and Oklahoma City. If all trades go through, this will allow Miami to create a very versatile offense and defense. Iguodala is an all-team defender who can guard any position, which will be a strong asset to the Heat. This would allow management to be flexible with Iguodala and Butler, as they are two top tear defenders. Miami has a whole possesses one of the best defensive teams in the league. This trade would be a great move for Miami. It would allow for them to acquire two reliable scorers that can help this young Heat roster. On the Memphis side of the trade, this is beneficial for them as well because Iguodala has not met the team’s expectations of playing time. Through this trade, the Grizzlies can potentially pick up a strong player with as much potential as Winslow. Overall, the Grizzlies took on Iguodala as a price dump from the Warriors as part of the trade they even got a first-round pick. This trade would essentially be the icing on the cake for the Memphis. Miami is going all in this year and we will see if they can keep their same pleasantly surprising pace.
