
John Madden is one of the most influential sports figures of all time. First off, he is a Hall of Fame Head coach. Then he became a famous, or Hall of Fame Broadcaster, lastly, he created the best and most well know video games off all time. To start at the beginning Madden was born in Minnesota, on April 10th, 1936. He played football at California Polytechnic State University, He was then drafted in the 21st round of the NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1958, but he suffered a career ending injury before he could even play a professional game. He first got a coaching job in 1960 as an assistant at Allan Hancock College before being promoted to head coach two years later. He then went to San Diego State University, next he got his first pro job with the Oakland Raiders as a linebackers coach. He then was named head coach of the Raider’s in 1969, becoming the youngest NFL head coach of all time. He then went on to win 103 out of 142, also winning one super bowl. After his career ended Madden became a color commentator/analyst on NFL games for all four major American television networks. Madden was a commentator for 29 years. In that time Madden lent his voice, his likeness and even his name sake to a video game brought to him by EA Sports. Madden the video game has spawned 32 different versions of the game as well as many different alterations. All in all, John Madden is one of the most influential men in Football history.
