March madness is an American pastime. One of the most exciting and intense sporting events of every year. March madness shuts down the end of March. Shutting down schools that are in the tournament, people take vacation from their jobs, or just sit on the computer at work to watch it. The biggest thing that happens with March madness is people spend money. As the info graphic shows, in 2013 $1 billion was spent on advertising revenue for March Madness. It also increases the number of jobs exponentially on sites like workinsports.com, which is one of the best sports job sites.  Over 1500 people work at AT&T Stadium, which is where at least one game a year is held. Many endorsement companies get into the action as well. Nike sponsors 52 of the teams that are in the tournament; Adidas 13 and Under Armor 3. During March Madness, lots of industries have a boom in sales. Whether it be TV subscriptions for certain things like CBS and other TV networks, so it is easier to watch the games your laptop. The most amount of money spent is when it comes to the ads. As it shows in the info graphic, $1.6 million is how much it costs for a 30-second ad during the championship game. To me that is crazy, but when you think about the amount of people that are watching all of these games, it makes a lot of sense. As most of our country is tuning in, focusing, or shut down in some circumstances, to watch this event.  All in all, March Madness brings Americans together in unique was compared to other sporting events. This is due to the high volume of fans that it attracts, in addition to the greater amount of games being played per day. Truly lives up to its name, making the month of March pure Madness.
